Eight Days Trek Bukit Lawang to Kutacane (Southeast Aceh)
A really challenging trek deep into the rainforest across the border between North and Aceh. You will experience leaving civilization way behind you and enjoy being surrounded by nature. While crossing several mountains you will have breathtaking views of the valleys between. At these remote places you can spot many rare species like wild orangutans, gibbons and other monkeys, deer, exotic birds, and if you’re lucky, even Sumatran elephants. Our experienced guides can provide you with detailed information about these animals. The duration of the trek may vary according to weather conditions, or to your wishes; in case you want to spend more time relaxing in a spot you find especially beautiful.

Itinerary:

Day One
Start trek after breakfast. Walk around 6-7 hours into the jungle looking for orangutan and other wildlife.  Around noon lunch break, before walk continues through to the camp. Take a rest at the camp and get a hot drink (tea or coffee) after showering in the small stream.Preparation of dinner.

Day two
After breakfast get ready for trek. Walk around 6-7 hours go to the next camp, searching for wild orangutan and other wildlife. Discover medicinal plants, jungle-food: learn their use and preparation.
After walk from the jungle, walk along the river to get to the camp site. Take a rest at the camp and a shower in the small river and get hot drink. Preparation of dinner.

Day three
Start after breakfast, get ready for trek. Walk around 6-7 hours along the river to the next camp while
searching for signs of wild orangutan nests and other wildlife tracks, collect jungle-vegetables for dinner.
If you want, you can learn how to make the jungle-camp and how to prepare jungle-dinner. Around 6 o`clock in the afternoon watch the animals in the salt lake, where they come to drink to get iron from the stone. Preparation of dinner.

Day four
After breakfast start to walk to the next camp. Walk around 5-6 hours to the jungle, searching for wild orangutans and other animals. Take a rest at the camp get a hot drink after a swim in the clean jungle river. Preparation of dinner.

Day five
Trekking alongside and through the Bohorok River with the help of our guides. Stay overnight next to the river bank with a fantastic river view. Preparation of dinner.
Day six
Trekking alongside and through the Bohorok River with the help of our guides. Stay overnight near to the river bank with a fantastic river view. Preparation of dinner.

Day seven
After an early breakfast we ascend the mountain. Arrive late afternoon 500 meters below the summit for our river camp in the valley below. From the campsite you can enjoy a spectacular view of Southern Aceh and the Alas River.

Day eight
Final day of trekking descend the mountain before reaching the village in Kuta cane where you can relaxing after a long day walking in the jungle .the end of the trek .

Price per person :  400 Euro/person.
Minimum group-size : three persons.
Maximum group size : four – eight persons.

Price includes :
Fully licensed English speaking jungle guide.
Permits to enter the national park PHPA office (ranger station) camera tax 150,000,Idr.
Permit from the Bukit Lawang guide association.
Foods,fruits and water during jungle trekking.
Tent, sleeping mat,blanket/sheet,mosquito net.
Transport from Bukit Lawang to Kutacane or other way around from Kutacane to Medan.

Necessary equipment  :
Good walking-boots or sport shoes.
Long trousers or short for walking into the jungle.
Sports-sandals or flip-flops for walking in the river.
Towel,short pants,swimming suit.
Insect repellent,medicines.
Light trousers and long sleeved tops (extra sets of clean and dry clothes for the night).
Head torch or flashlight.

A few words about the conditions :
You have to be fit for this trek, since climbing can be exhausting in the hot and humid climate and at times the ground may be steep and deeply-forested. We will all sleep in a big tent and wash ourselves in the river.
You might find it useful to do a short one-day practice trek before you embark on this expedition.
